Precision Craftsmanship

Curved Teak Decking

A sailing yacht deck is one of the most technically demanding surfaces in marine decking. The compound curves of a sailing hull — pronounced sheer, tumblehome, and curved cockpit surfaces — require exceptional engineering and manufacturing skill.

TDS designers work directly from digital template data in advanced CAD programs, engineering each panel so that planks align naturally with the vessel's lines, seam widths remain consistent throughout, and every joint is watertight for the life of the deck.

From Template to Sea

How We Build Your Deck

01

Digital Templating

A TDS technician digitally templates your yacht using precision measurement technology — capturing every curve, sheer, and contour of the deck so panels fit with no gaps.

02

CAD Engineering

Our designers use advanced CAD software to engineer panels that respect the geometry of sailing yacht hulls, ensuring visual symmetry and consistent seam widths from bow to stern.

03

Factory Manufacturing

Panels are built in our Sarasota facility from hand-inspected vertical-grain teak, bonded to a phenolic or fiberglass backing using our own high-strength epoxy systems.

04

Global Installation

TDS installation teams operate worldwide — from the Mediterranean and Caribbean to the Pacific — working alongside your yard on new builds, refits, and repairs.

Common Questions

Sailing Yacht Decking FAQ

What teak decking options does TDS offer for sailing yachts?

TDS crafts fully custom teak decks for sailing yachts — from blue-water cruisers to competitive race boats. We also offer TDS CompositeDeck and TDS SeaSole for owners seeking a low-maintenance alternative that retains the classic teak aesthetic.

How long does a sailing yacht teak deck last?

With correct installation and routine maintenance, a teak deck on a sailing yacht typically lasts 15–25 years. Plank thickness, sun exposure, and cleaning frequency are the main factors. TDS uses only premium-grade teak with our own marine adhesive and caulking systems to extend service life.

Can TDS work with performance and racing sailing yachts?

Yes. TDS has extensive experience fitting teak and composite decking on high-performance sailing yachts where weight, fit tolerances, and non-slip performance are critical. We tailor plank thickness, caulk width, and adhesive specification to match the demands of offshore racing and bluewater cruising alike.

Does TDS supply OEM teak decks to sailing yacht builders?

Yes. We have been an OEM supplier to some of the world's most respected sailing yacht builders for over four decades, supplying precision-prefabricated deck packages to the shipyard during new construction.
